Couscous is a tasty wheat cereal that is often chosen for its speed of preparation. It is also a great side dish if you need to lose a few extra kilos.
Usually couscous is poured with hot water, brought to a boil and removed from the fire. Then close the lid and let it steam for five minutes. After that, it is served as a side dish or added to salads. However, there is a way to make couscous crumbly and more delicious. How to cook couscous in a pot
As Express writes, the cookery expert from The Modern Proper knows how to make this porridge much tastier.
“Couscous is actually a type of pasta. It’s made from partially cooked semolina and water, and comes in several sizes,” he notes.
Since we have already considered a quick option, how to cook couscous on water, it is worth dwelling on a more interesting method – with the addition of broth.
According to the expert, “your couscous will taste much better if you use chicken or vegetable broth. If you don’t have any previously boiled, no worries. Just add a cube of stock, which you can buy in any shop, to the pot with the couscous and stir until dissolved. Then cover with a lid and turn off the heat.
It will be much tastier if you add a little butter to the garnish when the porridge is ready.
According to the expert, it is worth adding different herbs to couscous. A good option would be:
- basil,
- parsley;
- mint.
The “traditional partner” for it is, surprisingly enough, lemon zest.
