Recipe
Ingredients:
- Mackerel 4 pcs.
- Lemon 1 pc.
- Soy sauce 3 tbsp
- Teriyaki sauce 3 tbsp
- Smoked paprika ½ tsp.
- Granulated garlic ½ tsp. l
- Salt
- Ground black pepper
- Vegetable oil
- Fresh herbs
Preparation
- If the mackerel is frozen – defrost it partially. Half-frozen fish is easier to clean and better cut. Cut off the head, remove the insides and rinse thoroughly. Cut the carcass into pieces about 3-4 cm wide.
- Put the fish pieces in a large bowl. Add salt, pepper, smoked paprika, granulated garlic, soy sauce, teriyaki and the juice of half a lemon. Stir well so that each piece is evenly coated with the marinade. Cover the bowl and leave to marinate.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Place the fish in a baking dish (you can grease it a little with vegetable oil or cover it with parchment). Cover with foil.
- Bake for 20 minutes under the foil, then remove the foil and bake for another 25 minutes until browned.
- Before serving, drizzle the mackerel with fresh lemon juice – it will enhance the flavour and give a pleasant sourness. Sprinkle with herbs as desired.
- Serve the mackerel with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes or a light salad of arugula and tomatoes.
- Garnish the dish with lemon slices and fresh dill or parsley.
And if you want to surprise your guests, prepare a sauce based on Greek yoghurt, lemon juice and garlic to serve.
