Quick and easy: recipe for lazy belyashis

If you love belyashi and you don’t have enough time to make them, make lazy belyashi, which doesn’t require kneading and rolling the dough.

Valery Ponomar, a well-known Odessa food-blogger, shared his recipe for this dish.

Lazy belyashi

Ingredients (for 2 pcs):

  • veal – 0.5kg;
  • pita – 2 pcs;
  • onion – 1 pc;
  • garlic – 3 cloves;
  • hot pepper – ½ pc;
  • salt, black pepper – to taste;
  • ground coriander – ½ tsp;
  • sweet paprika – 1 tsp;
  • tomato – 1 pc;
  • mozzarella – 200 gr;
  • hard cheese.

Preparation:

  1. Put the veal through a meat grinder with a coarse mesh.
  2. In a frying pan, fry the onion, garlic and hot pepper until golden. Add the minced meat, cook until the moisture evaporates, then add the spices.
  3. Now make the stuffing. Add mozzarella, grated cheese and diced tomato to the cooked mince. Mix everything well.
  4. The next step is assembly. Cut two circles out of the pita: one large, the other half the size. Put mincemeat on the large circle, cover with the smaller one. Brush the edges with beaten egg and wrap as shown in the video.
  5. Brush the outside of the belyashi with egg. Fry on a dry frying pan until browned on all sides.
