These small dogs are perfect if you have a small flat
Want to get a dog but don’t have much space in your flat? Here’s a list of breeds that don’t require a lot of space. According to The Scotsman, the UK Kennel Club has published data showing how many dogs of each breed are registered with it.
Among small dogs, the most popular breeds are:
French Bulldog
This is a typical small-format dog. A powerful dog with a small appearance, proportionally stocky, short-haired, with a short muzzle and flat nose lobe.
Miniature smooth-haired dachshund
Dachshunds have been rapidly gaining popularity in recent years. This dog was originally bred to hunt small burrowing animals such as rabbits.
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
This is a breed that was created by crossing bulldogs with terriers, and they were first recognised as a purebred dog breed in the UK in 1935.
Miniature Schnauzer
Originally bred by German farmers to hunt rats and other pests, the Miniature Schnauzer is now more like a pet curled up on the sofa.
Border Terrier
Named after the border of Scotland and England where it originated, it is also popular with people whose living space is limited.
Miniature longhaired dachshund
This miniature longhaired dachshund isn’t as popular as its less hairy cousin, but it’s definitely worth a look.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
One of the most popular small dog breeds. Its name comes from the fact that it was bred to recreate Charles II’s spaniel from the English Civil War, when the king’s supporters were known as cavaliers.
